PRESENTING SPEAKERS

Felipe Ospina
CEO & Co-Founder Hat's Off Hospitality

Bringing his passion, unique insight and world class expertise of the culinary arts, Felipe Ospina is helping lead a group of food savvy visionaries determined to make the Midwest the most robust culinary capital of the United States. Introducing culturally eclectic concepts is what it is about for Felipe.

He started his career in the hospitality business back in his home country of Colombia. After beginning his career with American Airlines, he moved into the hotel industry, running the front desk of several high-end hotels. In 2003, he moved to Miami, where he began working the bar area at numerous South Beach restaurants. From Miami, he moved to New York City, where he opened Buddha Bar. He then moved into the General Manager position at Mercadito in the West Village. When Mercadito Hospitality expanded to open Mercadito in Chicago, Felipe left New York and opened the new restaurant as General manager in River North. In 2011, he joined the opening team as General Manager of Roka Akor in Chicago and helped lead the team to six consecutive months on Chicago magazine’s “Hot List.” Felipe left Roka Akor to lead the opening of Chicago’s Untitled with his close friend Art Mendoza before rejoining the JNK Concepts team as Director of Development and New Concepts in 2013. In 2014, he was exclusively sought out by an Indonesian restaurant conglomerate to penetrate the Chicago market via the established stylish Chinese eatery, Imperial Lamian.

Felipe accredits his successful career to his love for entertaining. He especially enjoys taking care of his guests and making sure each last detail is handled to ensure they have an incredible dining experience. During his free time, Felipe enjoys going to the gym, helping his family and friends in any way possible and also visiting all kinds of restaurants, nightclubs and hotels to stay updated to any new trends.
